On Friday, June 23, at the 2017 ALA Annual Conference in Chicago, the Emerging Technologies Section (ETS) of the Reference and User Services Association (RUSA) are hosting We Are All User Experience Librarians: Creating Change from the Trenches preconference. This half-day session (9:00am – 12:00pm) focuses on user testing and experience using discussion, presentations, and interactive exercises. Registration costs can be found on the conference website.
Presenters offer strategies and tools from throughout the life cycle of a user experience design project, and will provide an entertaining look at pitfalls to avoid and lessons learned. Unlike other sessions about UX design, the proposed workshop will focus on providing attendees with skills and techniques they can apply at their home institutions with little expense or pre-planning. This session is intended for anyone that uses elements of user experience or design in a library context.
The individuals presenting the session will be Pete Coco, Web Services Librarian, Boston Public Library; Deirdre Costello, User Experience Researcher, EBSCO Information Services; Heidi Steiner Burkhardt, User Experience Specialist, University of Michigan Library, Ann Arbor; and Carrie Moran, User Engagement Librarian, University of Central Florida.
