Reminder: Proposals for ACRL Science and Technology Section Research Forum (Online Tues., June 16) Due Tues., March 31

Posted on March 19, 2026 by Eric Edwards

(via William Jacobs, San Francisco State University)

The Research Committee of the ACRL Science and Technology Section (STS) will host its Research Forum online Tuesday, June 16. The Committee is currently seeking proposals to present lightning talks that highlight research and practitioner projects related to science and technology librarianship. Registration for ALA Annual and STS membership are not required in order to present.

The Forum provides an excellent opportunity to share original research that is in progress or nearly complete. Selected presenters will give lightning talks, a showcase for 7-minute presentations on research endeavors or practitioner projects.

Submissions should clearly address the following.

  • brief background information about your project
  • the research question or problem that drove your project
  • the methods used
  • your findings and a brief discussion that includes the impact of your project
  • a brief description of any equity, diversity, or inclusion considerations in your work or ways in which your work upholds the ALA Code of Ethics and ALA Mission and Priorities.

Submissions will be anonymously peer-reviewed and selected based on the quality of the submission and the demonstration of significant progress toward completing the research project by June, 2026.

Note: Please do not include any identifying elements (name, institution, etc.) in your abstract or title.

Submit proposals here by Tuesday, March 31.

If you have any questions, please ask the STS Research Committee Co-Chairs:

Haoyong Lan, haoyonglan@cmu.edu
