The Open Access Scholarly Publishing Association (OASPA) is pleased to announce its next webinar, “Rethinking Innovative Open Scholarly Outputs: Practice, Recognition, and Impact”, which will take place on Wednesday, July 2, from 9:00 to 10:00 AM CDT. The presentation will explore the landscape of innovative open access publishing formats, especially those that go beyond traditional monographs. Attendees will learn about these formats’ visibility and practical applications, along with how they are currently assessed within research evaluation systems. Despite their growing importance, such outputs are often overlooked in traditional academic assessment frameworks.
Together with our panelists, we hope to explore key questions such as the following ones.
- What types of experimental open scholarly outputs are the most popular and used?
- What motivates or discourages researchers from pursuing them?
- What institutional and cultural barriers prevent broader recognition?
- How can academia evolve to better assess and reward innovative scholarly work?
