Registration is open for the free webinar “Planning for Digital Accessibility and Literacy in 2026”. ALA Editions invites anyone seeking top-notch tips for building digital accessibility and literacy to join us Wednesday, December 3, at 11:00 AM CDT, when we’ll present this two-part webinar over the course of an hour. The presenting authors’ session descriptions follow below.
Part 1–Presented by Carli Spina and Rebecca Albrecht Oling, authors of The Digital Accessibility Handbook for Libraries. With new rules under Title II of the ADA starting to take effect in April of 2026, now is the time for libraries to think critically about the accessibility of their online presence. While this can feel overwhelming, there are straightforward steps you can take to improve digital accessibility. In this session, we will give you concrete tools and techniques to make accessibility improvements quickly. You’ll leave with immediate steps you can apply at any library!
Part 2–Presented by Jenna Kammer and Lauren Hays, authors of Digital Literacy in Public Libraries. In this session, we will describe ways in which libraries of all types (academic, public, school, special, etc.) can plan for digital literacy. These strategies will focus on embedding digital literacy into existing library programs, as well as designing new opportunities. As digital tools continue to evolve, librarians can support use and access to these tools.
