I’m excited to share that Helen Rimmer ACC, kindness-led leadership and wellbeing coach and founder of Empower: The Library Skills Collective, will be joining us for an ACRL Leadership Discussion Group webinar on transforming workplace conflict into an opportunity for connection, clarity, and cultural change. Titled “Kindness in Action: Conflict Resolution That Builds Trust, Clarity, and Culture”, the webinar will take place on Tuesday, December 16, at 2:00 PM CDT.
In libraries, conflict is often avoided or softened-but handled with care, it can become one of the most powerful tools for building healthier teams. In this session, Helen will explore practical, people-centered strategies for navigating difficult conversations with honesty and kindness.
Participants will learn how to:
- Prepare effectively for conflict
- Structure conversations that build trust and reduce tension
- Set and maintain boundaries
- Repair relationships when things go off track
- Model psychological safety at any level of leadership
Helen brings more than 20 years of experience in library and higher education leadership. She is the author of The Kind Librarian and a certified systemic team coach, Strengthscope Master Practitioner, and burnout coach. Her work blends coaching, leadership psychology, and practical tools to help library teams thrive across the UK, US, and Europe.
This session will include strategies for staff in any role, along with time for reflection and Q&A.
Please register here. We hope you’ll join us for this important conversation on leading with clarity, compassion, and courage.
