Please join us for the next COAPI (Coalition of Open Access Policy Institutions ) Community Call, “Using OpenAlex to Support Campus OA Policy Outreach”. It will take place online Wednesday, August 13, at 11:00 AM CDT.
Join us for a discussion with Kyle Demes, OurResearch COO, who will introduce you to OpenAlex and share details about how librarians can use the platform to enhance the work we do promoting open access scholarship on our campuses and across the globe.
OurResearch, the non-profit organization responsible for Unpaywall and Unsub, has developed the most comprehensive and completely open-source bibliographic database of scholarly works, authors and institutions called OpenAlex. OpenAlex contains metadata about almost 270 million works, 90 million authors, and 100,000 institutions. OpenAlex provides bibliographic data to many for-profit research platform vendors, but most importantly provides the same rich metadata to users around the world at no cost.
Searchable by an online interface or API, this rich resource is widely used by researchers, librarians, and data scientists for discoverability, access, and bibliometric analysis of the scholarly record. Most importantly to the COAPI community, OpenAlex can harvest data from our institutional repositories, resulting in greater visibility and discoverability of the open access content we make available
