Proposals Deadline for DLF Forum is May 15

Posted on May 15, 2016 by Eric Edwards

The deadline to submit a proposal for the 2016 DLF (Digital Library Federation) Forum is Sunday, May 15, at 11:59 PM PST (1:59 AM CST on Monday, May 16). This year’s event will take place in Milwaukee, from November 7 to November 9. This year’s Forum does not have a specific theme, although proposals should fit within the Digital Library Federation’s broader goal of promoting technology innovation and digital literacy that reaches all levels of society. Specific frameworks into which proposals may fall include digital library, archives, and museum collections and resources; technologies and infrastructure; services and programs; staffing, education, and professional development; social contexts and ethics; labor and vendor relations; or DLF community missions, priorities, problems, and concerns. In designing a program for a particular audience, aspects of design, labor, social responsibility, leadership, collaboration, implementation, and assessment should be taken into account.

Proposals may take the form of presentations or panels (with a special emphasis on a question-and-answer session for the audience), 6-mintue “snapshots” (intended to give a brief overview of a trend or innovation while engaging the audience), 90-second lightning talks (including links to further resources online), workshops (providing in-depth, hands-on training with technological tools), and lunchtime working sessions (collaborative meetings focused on solving a particular challenge). Proposals should be no more than 250 words (500 for panel discussions) and will be peer-reviewed before final selections are made. Separate calls for proposals are being made for two affiliated events, the DLF Liberal Arts Colleges Pre-Conference (November 6) and Digital Preservation 2016 (November 9-10).
