HSLI has the opportunity to host an information table at the 14th Annual Minority Health Conference, sponsored by the Illinois Department of Public Health, in Naperville on Tuesday, October 21, and Wednesday, October 22. More information on the event is available here. We would like to involve any current HSLI member who has an interest in participating.
Our conference keynote speaker, Dr. Janice Phillips, Assistant Director of IDPH, suggested that our participation could enlighten attendees on sources of credible health information as well as leverage what we have available and perhaps forge working relationships.
You can participate in a variety of ways.
- Brainstorm and share public health information sources that we can share with attendees
- Volunteer to take a shift at the table to talk with attendees about what a resource you and your library can be, and potential collaboration
- Use your creativity to create signage or something to show us off! We have never done an outward facing in person event like this before
- Volunteer to work with Cynthia Snyder in order to carry the torch into subsequent years if it works out
Let’s show these folks that we are helpful, enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and well-spoken!
Since Cynthia Snyder, the main contact for HSLI’s participation in this event, will be retiring at the end of next week, please direct your health information suggestions, volunteer requests, creative ideas or anything else to her at cindysmrt@gmail.com.
