Call for Volunteers: “Buddies” for First-Time Attendees at 2019 ACRL Conference

Posted on March 31, 2019 by Eric Edwards

(via Gwen Gregory–University of Illinois at Chicago, on behalf of Heidi Steiner Burkhardt–University of Michigan, Ann Arbor)

If you are attending the ACRL Conference next month, I hope you will consider being a buddy for a first time attendee. The Membership Committee made 75 slots available and they filled in around four hours (!), but we are struggling to get enough seasoned attendees to serve as mentors. This is a low-key commitment and it’s greatly appreciated. Buddies provide advice and guidance before and/or during the conference.  You don’t have to have all the answers, just be willing to help a newbie out.

Use Sign Up Genius to read first time attendee profiles, find a mentee, and click “sign up” to be their buddy. Additional direction is provided on the sign up page.
