Wisconsin’s Open Education Conference – “E”ffordability Summit
We invite you to join us for the “E”ffordability Summit 2020 on March 17 & 18, 2020 at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. This year’s theme, “Access The Future” provides an on opportunity for attendees to share their best practices, experiences, and issues relating to the use of open educational resources as well as other educational content and affordability topics.

Keynote Speakers
Haben Girma
Haben is the first deafblind to graduate from Harvard Law School. She worked with Disability Rights Advocates from 2015 to 2016 as a staff attorney. Haben became a lawyer in part to help increase access to books and other digital information for others with disabilities after always advocating for herself. Haben today goes around talking about disabilities throughout the world. Haben has also worked with the national board of trustees for the Helen Keller Services. She also met with prior US President Barack Obama, to talk about accessible technology for all people. In 2016, she decided to leave working with the DRA to take up non-litigation advocacy. Haben is known as an advocate for disability services around the world.
Chris Gilliard
Chris is a well-known English professor at Macomb Community College. Gilliard concentrates on privacy, institutional tech policy, digital redlining, and the re-inventions of discriminatory practices through data mining and algorithmic decision-making. He is currently developing a project that looks at how popular misunderstandings of mathematical concepts create illusions of fairness and objectivity in student analytics, predictive policing, and hiring practices
