Call for Ideas and Questions: Instruction and Programming Events Related to Authority and Scholarship

Posted on March 10, 2019 by Eric Edwards

(via Mackenzie Salisbury, School of the Art Institute of Chicago)

Are you working on instruction or programming events that engage with the frames “Authority is Constructed and Contextual” and/or “Scholarship as Conversation”?

Are you having productive discussions with faculty or students around the problems with systems of knowledge production?

We value your authority in this initiative and want to hear from you!

We created the Whose Authority folder<https://drive.google.com/open?id=1UbSlCsMdA8vrMbbdWfaqi92l7NQL9oY->
to gather ideas and questions from the library community.

Additionally, we will be hosting a Roundtable discussion at the 2019 ACRL Conference, Whose Authority? Engaging Students Critically in the Production of Knowledge<http://s4.goeshow.com/acrl/national/2019/profile.cfm?profile_name=session&master_key=D19E1D82-BCF6-4F03-A278-16A935C9F66F&page_key=126CB9A0-B53A-2A1E-9827-DF2938A26C80&xtemplate&userLGNKEY=0.>, where we hope to use a kind of “flipped” model where we will discuss and then collectively grow this guide and other related issues.

Directions:

There are two ways to contribute. The first is to add questions<https://docs.google.com/document/d/14-3jj6BmrEVYhBlGiQT_NI9iF6j7y5r2wnXU_n3mGN4/edit#heading=h.ddq7tznvg7b3> to help guide the roundtable discussion. Second,
add assignment/s<https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/19dr3_INzk7GJ7iSDfw6Opg-p58vwZSYd?usp=sharing>,
events or programs<https://docs.google.com/document/d/14-3jj6BmrEVYhBlGiQT_NI9iF6j7y5r2wnXU_n3mGN4/edit#heading=h.w5s0fhw2l3c0> ideas to folders linked from the guide.

Please contact us if you have any questions or have issues accessing the Google Drive Folders/Documents above.

Best,
