The Medical Library Association’s Research Training Institute (RTI) is a year-long, mentored research fellowship for librarians and LIS graduate students who want to design, conduct, and disseminate high-quality research that advances library programs, education, and health services. For RTI ’26, RTI is expanding its curriculum by adding new content areas and faculty expertise to address emerging needs in health sciences information research.
Beginning in 2026, RTI will introduce four new educational areas:
- AI in research–taught by Alex Carroll (Vanderbilt University)
- Research reproducibility–taught by Melissa Rethlefsen (University of New Mexico)
- Research impact–taught by Karen Gutzman (Northwestern University)
- Survey validation–taught by Mark MacEachern (University of Michigan)
These new modules build on RTI’s established strengths in rigorous, mentored research training, preparing participants to conduct ethically grounded, methodologically sound, and impactful research. Learn more about the RTI ’26 curriculum enhancements here.
Applications are due Monday, February 16. Additional information and application resources are available here.
