Reminder: Abstract Submissions for ACS Virtual Spring Meeting’s Symposium on the Changing Role of Librarians Due Tues., Jan. 19

Posted on January 17, 2021 by Eric Edwards

(via Teri Vogel–University of California, San Diego)

As part of the upcoming ACS Virtual Spring Meeting, which will take place over two weeks (April 5-16), the Chemical Information Division will be organizing a symposium, Even the Bonds Are Bigger: The Changing Roles of Librarians. We welcome Chemistry/STEM librarians to share how they have modified their existing roles or taken on new ones in recent years to engage and connect with their researchers and students, whether due to COVID or other factors like budgets and changing researcher needs. This can be anything from launching services like systematic reviews outside of medicine, to developing new delivery methods for instruction and outreach, to covering topics in library instruction we would not have considered a few years ago. We have left this fairly broad to allow for a variety of talks.

If you are interested, please submit your abstract here. The abstract deadline is Tuesday, January 19. Please direct any questions to Teri Vogel (University of California, San Diego), at tmvogel@ucsd.edu.
