The Illinois Department of Public Health is currently accepting proposals for the 2026 Illinois Minority Health Conference, which will be held October 27–28, 2026 at the NIU Naperville Conference Center. This year’s theme is: “Community Over Chaos: The Next 15 Years of Health Equity in Illinois.”
Some relevant focus areas that align well with our work include:
- Access to credible, understandable health information
- Helping communities assess the reliability of health information, particularly in an era where many turn to tools like ChatGPT
- Addressing the benefits and risks of emerging information sources
- Supporting individuals with limited or no access to care or technology
- Leveraging public libraries and community spaces as trusted access points
- Promoting health information literacy among underserved populations
Workshops are designed to be interactive, skill-building sessions and can be presented individually or with co-presenters.
