Legislative Update, 10/26/2016

Posted on October 26, 2016 by Kirstin Duffin
Federal:

The Connecticut Four, four librarians who, in 2005, stood against providing the FBI access to library patron computer use information, are again in the news. They write in the Hartford Courant about movement in the Senate to increase FBI surveillance authority. The latest proposition would require librarians to provide the FBI with transaction records of patron internet use. Read the very brief Senate amendment to H.R.2578. Read the op-ed piece in the Hartford Courant.

State:

If like many Illinoisans you watched the Cubs in Game 1 of the 2016 World Series (!) rather than the state comptroller forum, you still have an opportunity to hear what Republican Leslie Munger and Democrat Susana Mendoza had to say. WTTW (PBS) has made the Chicago Tonight forum available here.
