Former HSLI President, Legislative Committee Chair Michael Wold Passes Away

Michael Wold passed away last Friday, 10/23/2015.

Michael most recently served as the HSLI Legislative Committee Co-Chair. Michael was HSLI President for the 1989-1990 term. He will be remembered for his cheerfulness and willingness to help.

The obituary below notes that Michael was married on October 4, 2015 to Charles Avery.

BURLINGTON, Iowa – Mr. Michael Wallace Wold, 62, Burlington, died at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, 2015, at his home.

He was born Nov. 15, 1952, in Postville, Iowa, to Theodore and Helen Ladwit Wold. He was raised by his foster parents, Don and Helen Hurlburt. He married Charles J. Avery on Oct. 4, 2015, in Burlington. He survives.

Michael is also survived by three brothers, Theodore Wold, Richard Richardson and Eric Vandeventer; four sisters, Sherry Ortega, Mary Kuhse, Anna Hill and Lynn Salzkorn; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Michael worked in the medical libraries of the Burlington Medical Center for five years and Galesburg Cottage Hospital and OSF St. Mary Medical Center for 26 years.

He received his bachelor’s degree and teaching certificate from the University of Northern Iowa. He then received his master’s degree in library science from the University of Illinois<http://www.legacy.com/memorial-sites/university-of-illinois/?personid=176213201&affiliateID=2262>. He adhered to the Lutheran faith. He was a stamp collector as well as a collector of first edition books. He was a member of a book club.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2015, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Cremation will follow visitation. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Online condolences may be left at www.h-p-w.com.<http://www.h-p-w.com>
