We are excited to invite chapter proposals for our forthcoming ACRL book, Health Science Librarianship: Teaching, Research, Collections, and Engagement. This edited volume brings together a series of cases that illustrate various facets of health sciences librarianship today. It foregrounds the lived realities of librarians working in academic, hospital, and clinical settings. Each case will offer insight into how practicing health sciences librarians have addressed challenges, designed services, evolved their collections, supported research, cultivated relationships, and much more.
Collectively, these cases offer a textured portrait of health sciences librarianship as a reflective, evidence-informed, and human-centered profession. Contributors connect practical decisions to relevant literature, disciplinary standards, patron experiences, and professional identity, while also incorporating considerations of equity, diversity, and inclusion, and truth and reconciliation. Designed for both new and experienced practitioners, the scenarios in this casebook will enable readers to develop and apply their skills in professional judgement, critical reflection, and situational adaptability. As such, the casebook will challenge common assumptions and expand practitioners’ understanding of what health sciences librarianship can be.
