Call for Participation: Self-Censorship in Academic Libraries

Posted on July 14, 2026 by Megan Hoppe

(Via Brittany Fiedler through the ACRL University Libraries Section)

You are invited to participate in a research study that will examine to what extent, if any, the current United States administration’s passing of anti-equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) policies, laws, and executive orders, have resulted in censorship or self-censorship in student-facing work. This study has been reviewed and approved by UNLV’s Institutional Review Board (IRB) (#UNLV-2026-76).

To participate, you must be 18 years or older and an academic library professional employed at a post-secondary institution in the United States who does student facing work (instruction, outreach, service desk, displays, communications, and supervising student workers).
