Call for Proposals: “Shaping the Future of Libraries with Instructional Design” Virtual Conference (Final Deadline 2/25)

Posted on January 21, 2019 by Eric Edwards

(via Amanda Izenstark, University of Rhode Island)

I am writing to bring your attention to the upcoming Library 2.019 Virtual Conference on *”Shaping the Future of Libraries with Instructional Design <https://www.library20.com/instructionaldesign>”*. This is the first conference of its type, an online and participatory conference that presents a unique opportunity to showcase research, work, and/or thinking on the value of integrating instructional design into practice and to help participants innovate and evolve library services for the future.

The Conference is scheduled for *Wednesday, March 13, 2019 from 12:00 –

3:00 pm US-Pacific Daylight Time*. While advance registration is required to attend, this is a totally free event. It is open to everyone, librarians, instructional designers, educational technologists and educators.

You can find a full description of the Conference as well as registration information at https://www.library20.com/instructionaldesign

I also invite you to consider submitting a proposal for the Conference for a concurrent session presentation. Sessions slots are 30 minutes long, and the suggested presentation time is 20 minutes maximum, with 5 minutes of Q&A, and then 5 minutes for attendees to switch session rooms to attend the next session. *Proposals will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis starting January 10th, 2018*. The number of sessions will be limited, so you are encouraged to get your proposal in early! If your proposal is accepted, you will be provided with the ability to schedule a presentation time that is convenient to your time zone and work schedule. Early proposal submission and acceptance will give you the most flexibility for scheduling your presentation.

The *deadline to submit presentation proposals is February 25th*, but sessions slots may fill before that time. Suggested topics include but are not limited to:

   – Becoming an Instructional Design or Instructional Technology Librarian

   – what are the pathways to gaining the skills and knowledge

   – Partnerships with Faculty Development Units

   – Partnerships with Educational Technology Units

   – Designing Library Instruction

   – Universal Design for Learning framework

      – Accessibility (AODA, Section 508)
