RAILS will offer an in-person program with Amy Affelt of Compass Lexecon called “Data, Big or Otherwise: What Is It Good For?” on Tuesday, April 19, 2016, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM, at Elmhurst College AC Buehler Library.

Brief program description: What is Big Data, and how is it different from the types of data that librarians have worked with all along? We know that data is being collected at the speed of light, but how can we use it to uncover tangible insights that solve real-life problems? Join Amy Affelt to learn about Big Data and Internet of Things projects that have been undertaken in a variety of industries, as well as easy-to-use tools for analyzing and adding value to data. This session will be presented in an interactive format where participants will be given hypothetical reference projects to brainstorm in groups.
