Registration is open for the ACRL ULS (University Libraries Section) Professional Development Committee webinar “Embracing Slow Library Management: Reflections On Leading With Care”. It will take place on Wednesday, February 25, from 1:00 to 2:00 PM CDT.

Drawing on research and frameworks from scholars across disciplines, including Tricia Hersey and Meredith Farkas, this workshop addresses how slow librarianship principles can be applied to library management. The presentation will explore practical strategies for effective management, leading with care, and integrating slow librarianship principles into the day-to-day work of library management. The presentation will lead with examples from a department head navigating managing multiple aspects of a large library service under established organizational goals, incorporating self-reflection exercises to gain clarity on feelings of complicity, and performativity, and challenging traditional expectations of a library manager and department head.
