The ACRL Health Science Interest Group’s next Friday Forum is scheduled online for Friday, November 7, from 12:00 to 1:30 PM CDT. The topic is “Bibliometrics: It Sounds Fancy!”. You do not have to be a member of ACRL to join us!
Bibliometrics projects are becoming more popular for medical researchers as the publishing and citation landscape grows exponentially. Many researchers seek librarians for help when conducting bibliometric projects. This session will introduce the basic concepts of bibliometrics, identify important tools and data sources, and document limitations of the method.
Learning Objectives
1) define bibliometrics and identify the reporting landscape (or lack thereof)
2) identify and introduce tools and data sources that are important for bibliometrics work
3) identify question types and match with data sources/work through a few examples.
The presenter is Beth Blackwood, Research & Education Librarian at Duke University Medical Center Library.
To register, please go here. We will record the presentation portion, which we estimate will take up the first hour, and turn the recording off for discussion. Direct any questions to moderator Jules Bailey, at jules.bailey@fsu.edu.
