The Delaware Valley Chapter of the Association of College & Research Libraries (ACRL DVC) is pleased to announce our fall event, “Empowering Library Student Workers”, which will be held online Wednesday, November 5, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM CDT.
Founded in 1951, ACRL DVC is the oldest local ACRL chapter and serves library and information professionals in college, university, and research organizations in eastern Pennsylvania and Delaware.
This event will be free and open to all, including attendees outside of our region. Registration will open on the ACRL DVC website in early October.
Call for Proposals
The event will highlight the contributions and experiences of undergraduate and graduate library student workers. Presentations may range from 10 to 30 minutes in length. Submissions from students, or in which students will co-present alongside other library staff members, are especially welcome. Presenters need not be based in the Delaware Valley region.
Possible topics of interest may include:
- Mentorship of library student workers
- Student jobs as entry points to LIS careers
- Pay equity and other student labor issues
- Library initiatives or projects spearheaded by students
- Ethics of student-staff collaborations
Please submit your proposal via the Google form by Tuesday, September 30. We will notify proposers of our decisions by Friday, October 10. Any questions about the process can be e-mailed to programplanning@acrldvc.org.
