Posted on February 25, 2022 by Eric Edwards

(via Jeanne Hoover, East Carolina University)

The call has been extended for the ACRL Science and Technology Section’s annual Virtual Research Forum (Wednesday, June 15) and the pilot STS Lightning Talks (Thursday, June 16). Registration for ALA Annual and STS membership is NOT required in order to present at either session.

The STS Research Forum provides an excellent opportunity to share completed or well-in-progress research projects relevant to science and technology librarianship. Presentations will be 20 minutes long with 10 minutes for Q&A.

The STS Lightning Talks are an opportunity to share research endeavors or practitioner projects that enhance science and technology librarianship. Proposals should provide useful and practical findings and describe opportunities for discussion with participants. The sessions will consist of asynchronous presentations and commentary hosted online followed by a synchronous virtual Q&A session.

Submissions should include an abstract that clearly addresses the following.

  • brief background information about your project
  • the research question or problem that drove your project
  • the methods used
  • your findings and a brief discussion that includes the impact of your project
  • a brief description of any equity, diversity, or inclusion considerations in your work

NOTE: Proposals are limited to 250 words. Please do not include any identifying elements (name, institution, etc.) in your abstract or title.

To submit a proposal, please go here. The deadline is now Monday, March 7.

If you have any questions, please ask the STS Research Committee co-chairs:

Jessica McClean, jessica.mcclean@uta.edu

Jeanne Hoover, hooverj@ecu.edu
