Call for Volunteers: ACRL Science & Technology Section Task Force on EDI (Deadline March 10)

Posted on March 8, 2020 by Eric Edwards

(via Tim Klassen, University of Alberta)

The EDI task force recently completed a report that recommends a number of activities and projects to improve the equity, diversity, and inclusiveness of STS. The task force’s charge has been extended one year in order to begin implementation of the report’s 13 immediate and short-term recommendations. The task force is soliciting at least 4 additional volunteers to aid in this implementation.

Task force appointment terms will begin in March of 2020, and continue through June of 2021.

Anyone interested in applying should fill out the ACRL volunteer form, available here.

Anyone who recently filled out the volunteer form and indicated an interest/willingness to serve on the EDI task force does NOT need to fill out the form again, unless you would like to supply additional information.

The task force asks that you fill out the demographic information questions on the volunteer form to help achieve task force diversity. Volunteers are also welcome to note how their participation on the committee would help achieve this goal.

Applications are due no later than Tuesday, March 10, with appointments sent soon afterward. Volunteering questions can be directed to Rachel Borchardt, at borchard@american.edu.

Thank you for your consideration in helping to make our section more diverse, welcoming and inclusive, as well as a more equitable place for the advancement of science librarianship.
