2020 Connecticut Information Literacy Conference

Friday, June 12, 2020

Manchester Community College, Manchester, CT

Digital Divide 3.0: Bridging the Gap in Information Literacy

Digital Divide is a term that refers to the gap between those who have ready access to computers and the internet, and those who do not. The Digital Divide is a social challenge that has an impact on the culture in every region. Join us for a full exploration of Digital Divide 3.0, its impact on sustainability and retention, and its applications in Information Literacy Instruction.

Our keynote speakers are Maura Smale, Chief Librarian and Professor, New York City College of Technology, and Mariana Regalado, Head of Reference and Instruction and Professor, Brooklyn College.

The Connecticut Information Literacy Conference Committee invites you and your colleagues to submit proposals for breakout workshops (45-50 minutes long with a 10-15 minute Q & A session).

Proposals may address the following areas:

  • sustainability
  • retention
  • social justice
  • digital insecurity
  • information privilege
  • other topics addressing the Digital Divide and Information Literacy

Team presenters such as faculty-librarian are highly encouraged to submit a proposal. We encourage proposals from out-of-state colleagues.

For consideration, please submit a proposal by Monday, March 9, using our electronic form.

Benefits to the presenters include eligibility for one-half conference registration fee for up to two presenters and the opportunity to build your presentation experience and receive valuable feedback from your colleagues. Accepted proposals will be notified on or about March 23. Questions regarding proposals should be directed to Kyle Lynes, at lynes@hartford.edu.
