Lesley Wolfgang Receives Starfish Thrower Award
Lesley embodies this spirit through her years of dedicated service to HSLI and her unwavering commitment to supporting its members. She currently serves as Chair of the Nominating and Elections Committee and has contributed to numerous Conference Planning Committees over the years. Her leadership of the Registration Subcommittee has been consistently outstanding, helping to strengthen our organization and cultivate future leaders.
What sets Lesley apart is her willingness to step up whenever help is needed. This year, when I was searching for a volunteer to co-chair the Bylaws Committee, Lesley immediately offered her support. Despite an already full schedule, she continually makes time to contribute where she is needed most.
Perhaps even more importantly, Lesley is always willing to share her time, knowledge, and encouragement with others. No matter how busy she may be, she is quick to answer questions, offer guidance, and support fellow HSLI members. Her generosity, dependability, and collaborative spirit have made a lasting difference to countless colleagues and to the organization as a whole.
Miranda Shake Receives President’s Award
Miranda has been a dedicated leader and volunteer within HSLI for many years. She served as HSLI President from 2016 to 2018 and as Secretary from 2009 to 2013, contributing countless hours to the organization and helping shape its growth and success. Her commitment to HSLI continues today through her service as Chair of the Archives Committee and as the organization’s Listserv Moderator.
When longtime Listserv Moderator Linda Feinberg stepped down, Miranda willingly took on the responsibility of managing this essential service for HSLI members. Throughout the years, she also identified, evaluated, and successfully transitioned HSLI to new listserv hosts, ensuring a seamless migration to a platform that provides hosting at no cost to the organization. In addition, she diligently oversees HSLI’s archives, helping preserve the history and institutional memory of our organization.
What is especially remarkable is that Miranda manages these important responsibilities largely on her own. She approaches every task with professionalism, efficiency, and a quiet determination that keeps HSLI running smoothly behind the scenes. Her contributions may not always be highly visible, but they have a tremendous impact on the day-to-day functioning of our organization.
Beyond her many accomplishments, Miranda is known for her kindness, helpfulness, and collegial spirit. She is always willing to answer questions, offer assistance, and support fellow members. Her friendly demeanor and dedication to service embody the values that make HSLI such a strong and welcoming community.
