To address this issue, many institutions invest in diversity initiatives such as scholarships, internships, and residencies aimed to build a pipeline of specially trained librarians of color. This panel of current resident librarians will provide an overview of these diversity programs and center their experiences of these programs to suggest further avenues of exploration that build on existing structures and rethink the ways that we can build meaningful support for librarians of color. The presenters will share aspects of their respective programs that may have wider applications across librarianship and may serve as a starting point for increasing retention of underrepresented groups within librarianship. This program will be of interest to those who currently offer or are thinking of offering diversity scholarships, internships, and residencies or looking for alternative ways to support librarians of color.

Please direct questions to Laura Gariepy (lwgariepy@vcu.edu), chair of the ACRL ULS Professional Development Committee.

(via Alex Deeke, University of Michigan) The ACRL ULS Professional Development Committee invites you to: Beyond Library Diversity Residencies: Strategies to Recruit, Retain, and Promote Librarians of Color Presented online via Zoom Tuesday, February 19th, 11 am CST Registration Link The lack of racial diversity within the academic librarian profession is largely acknowledged within the field and reflected…

{"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false

54,18,38

post-9011","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-association-of-college-and-research-libraries","category-library-associations-non-hsli","category-webinars
["GET
