{"id":8221,"date":"2018-12-02T22:56:57","date_gmt":"2018-12-02T22:56:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hsli.org\/?p=8221"},"modified":"2018-12-02T22:56:57","modified_gmt":"2018-12-02T22:56:57","slug":"reminder-submissions-deadline-for-cls-innovation-in-college-librarianship-award-is-friday-december-7","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hsli.org\/newsletter\/reminder-submissions-deadline-for-cls-innovation-in-college-librarianship-award-is-friday-december-7\/","title":{"rendered":"Reminder: Submissions Deadline for CLS Innovation in College Librarianship Award is Friday, December 7"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">(via Susan Schreiner, Pittsburg State University)<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">The ACRL College Libraries Section Innovation in College Librarianship Award<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Deadline:\u00a0<span class=\"x_xobject\">Friday, December 7<\/span>, 2018<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><i>Why should I apply for an innovation award in college librarianship?<\/i>\u00a0\u00a0you may ask.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">College libraries across the land are coming up with new and innovative ways to connect with their students and faculty and demonstrate their continued value to college administrators.\u00a0 What have you done that could serve as a model for other college libraries?\u00a0 Apply for the CLS Innovation College Librarianship Award and shine a light on your library and help colleagues at other institutions learn how they may meet similar goals.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Here&#8217;s what you need to know and do:<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">The purpose of the CLS Innovation Award is to recognize college librarians and staff who demonstrate successful introduction of innovation in their library through a new idea, method, project, or device that enhances student learning and\/or faculty development and overall works to promote the library as integral to the achievement of the college&#8217;s mission.<\/p>\n<p>Award<\/p>\n<p>$1,000 award and plaque, donated by SCELC.<\/p>\n<h2>Criteria<\/h2>\n<p>As nominee(s), the librarian(s) must have demonstrated a capacity for innovation in working with or serving undergraduates or instructors in the areas of programs, services, and operations; or creating innovations for library colleagues that facilitate their ability to better serve the library&#8217;s community.<\/p>\n<h2>Eligibility<\/h2>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\">At least one of the nominees must be an ALA member to be eligible for this award.<\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Nominees must be in an academic library setting at institutions fitting the Carnegie classifications of Baccalaureate or Masters Colleges and Universities.<\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Canadian academic libraries are eligible if at least one nominee is an ALA member and if the nominee(s) can demonstrate their institution&#8217;s status is comparable to the Carnegie classification of Baccalaureate or Masters Colleges and Universities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Nomination Process &amp; Submissions<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Electronic submissions are required. All electronic attachments should be emailed to <span class=\"x_xobject\"><a href=\"mailto:CLSawardcommittee@gmail.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\">CLSawardcommittee@gmail.com<\/a><\/span>. Nominations should include the following:<\/p>\n<p>1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Name, address, e-mail and phone number of self-applicant or the person you are nominating.<\/p>\n<p>2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Letter of nomination (including self-nomination) (no more than 1,000 words)<\/p>\n<p>3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Written description of a new idea, method, project or device that enhances student learning and\/or faculty development and overall works to promote the library as integral to the achievement of the college&#8217;s mission. Describe the impact that it has had (or is anticipated to have) on the library and how it supports the college&#8217;s mission. Describe what other librarians can learn from the experience and how it could be replicated in other libraries.<\/p>\n<p>4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 CV is required.<\/p>\n<p>5.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Letter of recommendation, if appropriate.<\/p>\n<p>6.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Completion of the <span class=\"x_xobject\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ala.org\/acrl\/awards\/achievementawards\/clsawardform\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\">online form<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>At the completion of their project, the selected recipient will provide a statement describing the impact that the\u00a0project\u00a0has had on their library.<\/p>\n<p>If possible, please submit a\u00a0high resolution photo of the nominee(s) (at least 300 dpi).
