Academic libraries play an essential role in supporting teaching and student learning and are therefore well situated to play a key role in promoting and fostering student wellness.\u00a0\u00a0This edited volume will present case studies that describe successful and innovative approaches in library programming to promote student wellness, as well as research assessing the impact of library wellness initiatives.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Suggested topics include but are not limited to the following:<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_gmail-m2463994742991188166gmail-m-7257822835654627010gmail-msolistparagraph\">\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Innovative student wellness initiatives with an emphasis on programs that have been assessed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_gmail-m2463994742991188166gmail-m-7257822835654627010gmail-msolistparagraph\">\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Library initiatives to support at-risk student groups (first year, graduate, first-generation, international, etc.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_gmail-m2463994742991188166gmail-m-7257822835654627010gmail-msolistparagraph\">\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Partnerships with other campus student service providers or student groups.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_gmail-m2463994742991188166gmail-m-7257822835654627010gmail-msolistparagraph\">\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Education and training initiatives for library staff to help them recognize students in distress.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_gmail-m2463994742991188166gmail-m-7257822835654627010gmail-msolistparagraph\">\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The development of spaces in the library to support student wellness (e.g., meditation spaces).<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_gmail-m2463994742991188166gmail-m-7257822835654627010gmail-msolistparagraph\">\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Changes to library policies and operations to promote student wellness (food and noise policies, library hours, fines, etc.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Proposals should include the following:<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_gmail-m2463994742991188166gmail-m-7257822835654627010gmail-msolistparagraph\">\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0names of all authors and institutional affiliations,<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_gmail-m2463994742991188166gmail-m-7257822835654627010gmail-msolistparagraph\">\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0identification of primary contact with e-mail address,<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_gmail-m2463994742991188166gmail-m-7257822835654627010gmail-msolistparagraph\">\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0title and ~500-word summary of proposed chapter,<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_gmail-m2463994742991188166gmail-m-7257822835654627010gmail-msolistparagraph\">\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0current CVs for all authors.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Chapters should be unique to this publication &#8211; no previously published or simultaneously submitted materials should be included. Authors of accepted proposals will be asked to write a chapter within the range of 6,000 &#8211; 9,000 words (including references).<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Proposals and inquiries should be emailed to Amber Lannon (<a href=\"mailto:amber.lannon@carleton.ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\">amber.lannon@carleton.ca<\/a>) and Sara Holder (<a href=\"mailto:shholder@gmail.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\">shholder@gmail.com<\/a>) by\u00a0<b>August 15, 2018<\/b>.
