{"id":7544,"date":"2018-07-20T19:49:35","date_gmt":"2018-07-20T19:49:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hsli.org\/?p=7544"},"modified":"2018-07-20T19:49:35","modified_gmt":"2018-07-20T19:49:35","slug":"legislative-update-07-20-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hsli.org\/newsletter\/legislative-update-07-20-2018\/","title":{"rendered":"Legislative Update, 07\/20\/2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Federal:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Appropriations Committees for both the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.districtdispatch.org\/2018\/07\/fy-2019-house-committee-approves-level-funding\/\">House<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.districtdispatch.org\/2018\/06\/senate-appropriations-committee-approves-fy-2019-library-funding\/\">Senate<\/a> have approved level funding for libraries through the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA; $186.3 million) and the Innovative Approaches to Literacy program (IAL; $27 million) for FY19. Committees in the House and Senate also approved an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sciencemag.org\/news\/2018\/06\/senate-panel-proposes-2-billion-54-increase-nih\">increase to NIH funding for FY19<\/a> (by $1.25 billion in the House and $2 billion in the Senate). The full House and Senate will need to make final approval by vote before October 1, 2018.<\/p>\n<p>With the resignation of EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt, what is the future of his proposed data policy?
