{"id":7286,"date":"2018-06-10T03:16:19","date_gmt":"2018-06-10T03:16:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hsli.org\/?p=7286"},"modified":"2018-06-10T03:16:19","modified_gmt":"2018-06-10T03:16:19","slug":"virtual-free-learning-conference-2018-open-registration-and-call-for-proposals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hsli.org\/newsletter\/virtual-free-learning-conference-2018-open-registration-and-call-for-proposals\/","title":{"rendered":"Virtual Free-Learning Conference 2018: Open Registration and Call for Proposals"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">(via Emory Maiden, Appalachian State University)<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">We have begun planning our summer conference, and I have some exciting news to share, as well as an early invite to you.<\/p>\n<p>Since 2011 AppState has hosted the <a href=\"https:\/\/cae.appstate.edu\/professional-development\/workshops-and-events\/free-learning-conference\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Free-Learning Conference<\/a> as a f2f conference in Belk Library in Boone, NC. It&#8217;s always been a rewarding experience, but we would like to try something new this year.<\/p>\n<p>This July I&#8217;d like to explore the possibilities for taking this conference online and I&#8217;d like to invite you to participate. I know holding this as an entirely online, virtual conference using Zoom is a big move, and we&#8217;re hoping to remain true to the vision for this free online conference on the topic of teaching and learning with technology while opening this up to a broader audience.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">My team and I are in conversations now about how to keep what has been best about this conference while seeing some of the potentials in a move to online. One of the areas I think we most need will be excellent presenters and sessions in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\/appstate.edu\/flc\/zoom-meetings\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Zoom<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">We are now accepting proposals\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\/appstate.edu\/flc\/call-to-present\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>. If you are interested in presenting, please submit your proposal by <strong>Friday, July 20<\/strong>.
