{"id":7236,"date":"2018-06-04T02:42:01","date_gmt":"2018-06-04T02:42:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hsli.org\/?p=7236"},"modified":"2018-06-04T02:42:01","modified_gmt":"2018-06-04T02:42:01","slug":"call-for-acrl-science-and-technology-section-sts-liaisons-deadline-june-7","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hsli.org\/newsletter\/call-for-acrl-science-and-technology-section-sts-liaisons-deadline-june-7\/","title":{"rendered":"Call for ACRL Science and Technology Section (STS) Liaisons (Deadline June 7)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">(via Ginny Pannabecker, Virginia Tech University)<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">This message is sent on behalf of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ala.org\/acrl\/sts\/acr-stslia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ACRL STS Liaisons Committee<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><b>Call for Science and Technology Section Liaisons<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Are you a member of a science\/technology organization?<br \/>\nDo you normally attend the conference\/meeting of the organization?<br \/>\nWould you like to be more involved in STS, or would if you &#8220;had the time?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>If so, the STS Liaison program could be a great opportunity for you!<\/p>\n<p>STS maintains a liaison program to encourage STS members to report on the meetings and activities of science and technology organizations. Liaisons have an opportunity to share annual meeting reports and updates via the STS email list, present to the community about what they&#8217;ve learned in the annual Spring STS Liaisons Online Forum, and more, as they help develop connections between librarians and other professions.<\/p>\n<p>The following liaison positions (2-year terms) will be available from July 2018:<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.aibs.org\/home\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">American Institute of Biological Sciences<\/a> (AIBS)<\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.acs.org\/content\/acs\/en.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">American Chemical Society<\/a> (ACS)<\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.aps.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">American Physical Society<\/a> (APS)<\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.geoinfo.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Geoscience Information Society<\/a> (GSIS)<\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mlanet.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Medical Library Association<\/a> (MLA)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">STS-appointed liaisons:<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Are expected to serve at least a two-year term (if possible)<\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Attend the annual conference or meeting of their assigned organization (funding may be available)<\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Report back to the STS community<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul type=\"circle\">\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Annual report on key issues, initiatives, interests of the association within 2 weeks of the association&#8217;s annual meeting<\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Updates (conference calls, etc.) via the STS email list<\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Other methods you would like to use!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">WANT TO BECOME A LIAISON FOR STS?<\/p>\n<p>***Apply by June 7th, 2018***<\/p>\n<p>Please email a short statement (200 words or less) to the Co-Chairs of the Committee explaining why you are interested in the association that you would like to be liaison for, and sharing your experience or involvement in that association by June 7th, 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Contact:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Ginny Pannabecker (<a href=\"mailto:vpannabe@vt.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">vpannabe@vt.edu<\/a>)<br \/>\nMichelle Leonard (<a href=\"mailto:mleonard@uflib.ufl.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">mleonard@uflib.ufl.edu<\/a>)<br \/>\nCo-Chairs of the 2018 STS Liaisons Committee<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>For more information about the liaison work, and to see reports from current and past liaisons, please go <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ala.org\/acrl\/aboutacrl\/directoryofleadership\/sections\/sts\/stswebsite\/liaison\/STSLiaison\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>(via Ginny Pannabecker, Virginia Tech University) This message is sent on behalf of the ACRL STS Liaisons Committee.
