{"id":6623,"date":"2018-04-22T23:59:29","date_gmt":"2018-04-22T23:59:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hsli.org\/?p=6623"},"modified":"2018-04-22T23:59:29","modified_gmt":"2018-04-22T23:59:29","slug":"proposals-deadline-for-new-librarian-summit-extended-to-april-27","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hsli.org\/newsletter\/proposals-deadline-for-new-librarian-summit-extended-to-april-27\/","title":{"rendered":"Proposals Deadline for New Librarian Summit Extended to April 27"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">(via Laurie Borchard, San Jose State University)<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>To support early career Librarians, the New Librarian Summit (NLS) Organizing Committee invites proposals for its second annual\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.newlibrariansummit.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Conference<\/a>\u00a0on the specific theme, &#8220;<b>Exploring New and Innovative Approaches in LIS.<\/b>&#8221; This event aims to provide practical strategies, hands-on methods, networking, and professional development opportunities to recently graduated and\/or recently appointed librarians from all types of libraries. The event will be held on August 2-3, 2018, at San Jose State University in San Jose, California.<\/p>\n<p>We strongly encourage proposal submissions from MLIS graduate students, librarians who have graduated within the past 10 years, as well as those who have accepted new roles\/appointments or experienced career transitions in the past 10 years. Proposals are invited across six topic areas:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>New forms of outreach, collaboration and liaison<\/li>\n<li>New approaches to digital scholarship, digital curation and publishing<\/li>\n<li>The librarian-teacher: new modes of instructional design, pedagogy and assessment<\/li>\n<li>The librarian-scholar: engagement in practice-based research and publishing<\/li>\n<li>New challenges and solutions in technical services (e.g., collection development, acquisitions, cataloging, e-resources)<\/li>\n<li>Skills development: public speaking, writing, visual communication<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><b>Types of Submissions<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Please ensure that proposal fits into the overall theme &#8220;Exploring New and Innovative Approaches in LIS&#8221; and at least one of the topic areas outlined.
