Their justifications for these recommendations are outlined in this\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/mla.socious.com\/d\/do\/8419\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Statement<\/a>, submitted to the Senate Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education &amp; Related Agencies.<\/p>\n<p>ALA President Julie Todaro responded to the Trump Administration&#8217;s FY18 budget proposal in this\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ala.org\/news\/press-releases\/2017\/05\/trump-administration-s-budget-using-wrong-math-when-it-comes-libraries\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Statement<\/a>, in which she documents strong support by Americans for their public, school, academic, and special libraries. Trump&#8217;s budget would cut $207 million of $230 million for the Institute of Museum and Library Services, according to this\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/graphics\/politics\/trump-presidential-budget-2018-proposal\/?utm_term=.240a7c892e21\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Washington Post article<\/a>. Also noted in the Washington Post article, the Department of Health and Human Services and the National Institutes of Health would each see budget cuts of 18%.<\/p>\n<p>The FCC voted on May 18, 2017 to roll back Obama-era Net Neutrality regulations put into place in 2015.
