Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s Lovejoy Library will hold its 2017 Spring Symposium, “From Transaction to Transformational: The Changing Role of the 21st Century Librarian”, on Monday, May 22<\/strong>, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM<\/strong>. The event will take place in the library’s third-floor conference room. Hear ten top tips for library staff to survive and thrive new territory in the library world from someone who led the way.<\/p>\n

Presenter Maxine Bleiweis has spent her career as a public library director following early experience in a State Library, a major art museum, and a university library. She created one of the first makerspaces in the United States and authored the book Helping Business<\/i>, on economic development for librarians. She was named Connecticut’s Librarian of the Year in 2011 and received the Charles Robinson Award for Innovative Leadership from the Public Library Association in 2015.<\/p>\n

Here is a map<\/a> that shows parking options. Lot B and all metered parking are $1.00 per hour. This event is free and open to the general public. Light refreshments will be served.<\/p>\n
