{"id":3722,"date":"2016-11-20T02:19:59","date_gmt":"2016-11-20T02:19:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hsli.org\/?p=3722"},"modified":"2016-11-20T02:19:59","modified_gmt":"2016-11-20T02:19:59","slug":"call-for-submissions-beta-phi-mulrrt-research-paper-award-for-2017","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hsli.org\/newsletter\/call-for-submissions-beta-phi-mulrrt-research-paper-award-for-2017\/","title":{"rendered":"Call for Submissions: Beta Phi Mu\/LRRT Research Paper Award for 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>(via Gwen Gregory, IACRL Past President)<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Nominations are being sought for the Beta Phi Mu\/LRRT Research Paper Award for 2017.\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">This award is being jointly presented by the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/beta-phi-mu.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Beta Phi Mu International Honor Society<\/a>and the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ala.org\/lrrt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">American Library Association&#8217;s Library Research Round Table<\/a>\u00a0to recognize excellent research in progress into problems related to the profession of librarianship. Any ALA member is eligible for this $500 award, and all methodologies and research topics or questions are eligible for consideration.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The following criteria will be used to evaluate and grade submissions.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s4\">i<\/span><span class=\"s1\">mportance of the research question or problem (20 points)<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">a<span class=\"s1\">dequacy of the review of relevant literature (10 points)<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">a<span class=\"s1\">ppropriateness of the methodology used (10 points)<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">e<span class=\"s1\">ffectiveness of the application of the methodology (20 points)<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">a<span class=\"s1\">ddition of the findings to the knowledge and\/or praxis in the field of librarianship (20 points)<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">articulation of the conclusions emanating from the study (10 points)<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">c<span class=\"s1\">larity and completeness (10 points)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The deadline for submission is\u00a0<b>January 31, 2017<\/b>. Submissions must not have been published prior to January 31, 2017. The submissions will be limited to a 2,000-word abstract, excluding the bibliography or reference list, and should be e-mailed to Susan Rathbun-Grubb, Award Committee Chair, at\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:srathbun@mailbox.sc.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s2\">srathbun@mailbox.sc.edu<\/span><\/a>. Please include a title page with title of proposal and author contact information including name, institutional affiliation, mailing address and email address. Individuals may submit only one paper. Jointly authored proposals are acceptable, but all authors must be ALA members, and will split the award of $500.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">All submissions that meet the deadline and the criteria will be considered.
