Researchers and\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">practitioners from all types of libraries, library school faculty and\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">students, and other interested individuals are encouraged to submit a\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">proposal.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The Reference Research Forum is a popular and valuable ALA Annual Conference\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">program. Attendees have the opportunity to learn about innovative research\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">projects conducted in reference services including user behavior, electronic\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">services, reference effectiveness and assessment, and organizational structure\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">and personnel.\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">For examples of projects presented at past Forums, please see the Committee&#8217;s\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\"><a href=\"http:\/\/connect.ala.org\/node\/64439\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">website<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The Committee employs a blind review process to select three projects for 20-<\/span><span class=\"s1\">minute presentations, followed by open discussion. Identifying information\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">will not be shared with reviewers until after final selection of projects.\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">Selected submissions must be presented in person at the Forum during ALA\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">Annual in Chicago, IL. The Committee will use the following criteria for selection.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">originality: potential for research to fill a gap in reference\u00a0<\/span>knowledge or to build on previous studies<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">quality: research design and methodologies<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">impact: significance of the study for improving the quality of reference service<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>Note:<\/strong>\u00a0Research projects may be in-progress or completed. Previously-published\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">research or research accepted for publication will not be accepted.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Proposals are due by\u00a0<strong>Wednesday, December 28<\/strong>. Notification of acceptance will be\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">made by Monday, February 6. The submission must not exceed the stated\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">word-count limit.\u00a0<\/span>Submissions will be accepted using the online\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.surveymonkey.com\/r\/CWPMJK6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">form<\/a>.
