(The original deadlines fell in December or January and are still indicated as such on the application forms.) The list of affected grants and awards is below.<\/p>\n<p><u>ALA Information Today Library of the Future Award:<\/u>\u00a0recognizes an individual library, group of libraries, or support organization for an innovative program training library patrons to use information technology<\/p>\n<p><u>Equality Award<\/u>: recognizes an individual or group for a significant accomplishment in fostering equality across the profession of librarianship<\/p>\n<p><u>Gale Cengage Learning Financial Development Award<\/u>: honors a library organization that has made a substantial effort to obtain new sources of funding for an academic or public library initiative<\/p>\n<p><u>Lemony Snicket Prize for Noble Librarians Faced with Adversity<\/u>: honors a librarian who has overcome a significant obstacle while maintaining integrity and dignity<\/p>\n<p>For more information on these, and other, ALA awards and grants, including links to the application forms, go\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ala.org\/news\/press-releases\/2016\/01\/ala-awards-deadline-extended\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The application deadline for several American Library Association-sponsored awards and grants has been extended to Friday, February 12.
