Mental health in libraries is an issue that has perhaps not received its fair share of attention, but that is increasingly relevant in today’s world. Learn the latest strategies for addressing this problem in the “Mental Health Awareness Training for Library Staff” workshop. This event will take place at the Charleston (IL) Carnegie Public Library on Thursday, January 18, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Participants will receive background information on mental-health issues and will learn how to identify library patrons who may show signs of a mental condition. Communication strategies to resolve any issues that may arise at the library, and to work respectfully with mentally-ill individuals and their families, will also be covered.<\/p>\n
