The UCLA Library is pleased to announce a\u00a0call for proposals for “Lessons\u00a0for\u00a0Librarians\u00a0in\u00a0Open\u00a0Science\u00a0Principles and Methods”, a two-year (2023-2024) project funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Service (IMLS) to incentivize lesson authors to develop and refine seven\u00a0lessons\u00a0each year (total 14\u00a0lessons) through two-year sequential summer workshops. This call is for lesson proposals to form the project’s first year (2023) cohort of lesson authors. We will announce another call for proposals for the project’s second year (2024).<\/p>\n
We seek lesson proposals intended for synchronous instruction settings. Lesson proposals should support in-person and virtual settings. The completed lesson should be 90 minutes to 3 hours long.\u00a0We prefer proposals that use\u00a0open\u00a0resources, such as\u00a0open-source tools and software, and resources that are broadly accessible to all.\u00a0The deadline for submissions is\u00a0Tuesday, January 31, 2023<\/strong>. Awards will be announced by\u00a0Sunday, April 30, 2023<\/strong>. We will also provide summer workshops (2023) to teach the awarded recipients the necessary skills to build\u00a0lessons.
