{"id":16333,"date":"2023-01-06T20:58:14","date_gmt":"2023-01-06T20:58:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hsli.org\/newsletter\/?p=16333"},"modified":"2023-01-06T20:58:14","modified_gmt":"2023-01-06T20:58:14","slug":"call-for-proposals-21st-annual-illinois-information-literacy-summit-at-college-of-dupage-fri-april-28-priority-deadline-mon-jan-23","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hsli.org\/newsletter\/call-for-proposals-21st-annual-illinois-information-literacy-summit-at-college-of-dupage-fri-april-28-priority-deadline-mon-jan-23\/","title":{"rendered":"Call for Proposals: 21st Annual Illinois Information Literacy Summit (at College of DuPage Fri., April 28)&#8211;Priority Deadline Mon., Jan. 23"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>(via Sveta Stoytcheva, DePaul University)<\/p>\n<p><em>Illinois Information Literacy Summit<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Stronger Together: Interdisciplinary Approaches to Media &amp; Information Literacy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Date: <strong>Friday, April 28, 2023<br \/>\n<\/strong>Location: <a href=\"https:\/\/cod.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">College of DuPage<\/a> in Glen Ellyn, IL<\/p>\n<p>The College of DuPage Library and the DePaul University Library are pleased to announce the call for proposals for the 21st Annual Illinois Information Literacy Summit!\u00a0 The Summit will be held on Friday, April 28, 2023 at the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, IL.\u00a0 This will be our first in person gathering since the pandemic and we&#8217;re excited for the opportunity to reconnect and rebuild our professional networks.<\/p>\n<p>We are seeking presenters to lead engaging and interactive discussions about media and information literacy, library instruction, and interdisciplinary collaboration.\u00a0 We are especially interested in breakout sessions and panels related to this year&#8217;s theme:\u00a0<em>Stronger Together: Interdisciplinary Approaches to Media &amp; Information Literacy<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Librarians, educators, and media professionals all bring a unique lens to the question of media literacy. In this year&#8217;s Summit, we hope to explore what we can learn from each other as we navigate an increasingly complex information landscape.<\/p>\n<p>In line with this year&#8217;s theme, we&#8217;re especially interested in proposals that speak to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Source evaluation and critical approaches to disinformation<\/li>\n<li>Information creation as a process and students as creators of information<\/li>\n<li>Collaborative and interdisciplinary approaches to media literacy<\/li>\n<li>Integration of media and information literacy concepts across the curriculum<\/li>\n<li>Interactive workshops that facilitate meaningful connections among participants<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><em>Submissions from high school librarians, public librarians, educators and media professionals and panels related to collaborative projects are especially encouraged.\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Summit is a regional conference which will be held in person at the College of DuPage. Breakout sessions and panels will be 50 minutes long and should include audience interaction or discussion. Hands-on lessons and demonstrations (and\/or practical takeaways) are encouraged. Sessions typically have 20-40 participants.<\/p>\n<p>The submission should include a 300-500-word description of your presentation. Please include learning outcomes and a brief explanation of why people should attend your session and what they will take away. A shorter abstract for publication in the Summit program will be required as well. If you wish to propose more than one session, please fill out a form for each topic.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Priority deadline to submit proposals: <\/strong><strong>Monday, J<\/strong><strong>anuary 23, 2023<\/strong>.
