Learn about bioinformatics, the data science of biology!<\/p>\n
The Network of the National Library of Medicine is pleased to open registration for the ninth cohort of “Bioinformatics and Biology Essentials for Librarians: Databases, Tools, and Clinical Applications”.\u00a0The class will take place from Monday, August 29, to Friday, December 9<\/strong>.<\/p>\n This 15-week, 30-credit-hour (MLA), self-paced online class reviews basic biology concepts and provides hands-on experience with National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) molecular biology databases. This class is designed for librarians who offer, or intend to offer, bioinformatics services; and also for librarians who use gene and protein information on a periodic or irregular basis to serve their patrons.\u202fParticipants who successfully complete the class are invited to join an alumni forum that includes discussion and additional learning opportunities.<\/p>\n Expect to spend at least 30 hours working through this class.<\/p>\n Subject-matter experts for this course include staff scientists from NCBI, Peter Cooper, Ph.D. and Majda Valjavec-Gratian, Ph.D.<\/p>\n For more information, and to register, please go here<\/a>.
