The <a href=\"https:\/\/annual.ametsoc.org\/index.cfm\/2022\/about-the-meeting\/theme-of-the-ams-102nd-annual-meeting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">theme<\/a>\u00a0<span class=\"markkrqtgr28x\">for<\/span>\u00a0the 102nd AMS Annual Meeting is &#8220;Environmental Security: weather, water and climate\u00a0<span class=\"markkrqtgr28x\">for<\/span>\u00a0a more secure world&#8221;. With this theme, the AMS has organized the Annual Meeting theme around five environmental security pillars, which often have several linkages and dependencies on one another:<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li class=\"x_x_MsoNormal\">Extreme weather: national and human security impacts of extreme weather and climatic events<\/li>\n<li class=\"x_x_MsoNormal\">Energy security: environmental and security issues associated with ensuring uninterrupted availability of energy sources that are affordable, reliable, and accessible<\/li>\n<li class=\"x_x_MsoNormal\">Food security: environmental and security issues associated with the need\u00a0<span class=\"markkrqtgr28x\">for<\/span>\u00a0consistent physical, social, and economic access to sufficient, safe, and nutritious food that meets people&#8217;s dietary needs<\/li>\n<li class=\"x_x_MsoNormal\">Health security: environmental and security issues associated with minimizing &#8220;the danger and impact of acute public health events that endanger the collective health of populations living across geographical regions and\u00a0<span class=\"x_mark09h34y2k8\">international<\/span>\u00a0boundaries&#8221; (WHO, n.d.: Health security. Accessed Apr. 7, 2020, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/health-topics\/health-security\/#tab=tab_1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li class=\"x_x_MsoNormal\">Water security: environmental and security issues associated with a population&#8217;s capacity to safeguard sustainable access to adequate quantities of acceptable-quality water\u00a0<span class=\"markkrqtgr28x\">for<\/span>\u00a0sustenance of livelihoods, well-being, and socioeconomic development, and\u00a0<span class=\"markkrqtgr28x\">for<\/span>\u00a0protecting against threats from waterborne pollution and water-related disasters<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"x_x_MsoNormal\">This year\u00a0<span class=\"markko15oya3o\">ASLI<\/span>\u00a0will again include the popular session, &#8220;Technology Tools and Tips&#8221;. These short talks are opportunities to describe any tool or innovation members have found useful. Talks on technology failures and lessons learned are especially welcome, as are\u00a0<span class=\"mark2nuio2izb\">proposals<\/span>\u00a0from students using innovative strategies around information.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_x_MsoNormal\">\u00a0<strong>We welcome papers on any aspect of these topics or any other topics that would be of interest to\u00a0<span class=\"x_markvn144005t\">atmospheric<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"x_markd3xl6w60y\">science<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"x_mark68fqzakgh\">librarians<\/span>hip including best practices, diversity- equity-inclusion issues, collection development, and innovative ways we are addressing providing service during pandemic.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_x_MsoNormal\"><span class=\"markko15oya3o\">ASLI<\/span>\u00a0will again co-sponsor a Joint Session with the AMS Board (EIPT) on Data Stewardship. Papers that describe innovative technological advances, curation and preservation of data, and solutions that help us understand and serve data needs in the field are most welcome.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_x_MsoNormal\">Please contact the\u00a0<span class=\"markko15oya3o\">ASLI<\/span>\u00a0program chairpersons, Joyce Shaw (<a href=\"mailto:joyce.shaw@usm.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">joyce.shaw@usm.edu<\/a>), Elizabeth Fish (<a href=\"mailto:efish@miami.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">efish@miami.edu<\/a>), or Chris Sherratt (<a href=\"mailto:gcsherra@mit.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">gcsherra@mit.edu<\/a>) if you would like to propose a session topic, panel, or poster\u00a0<span class=\"markkrqtgr28x\">for<\/span>\u00a0this conference. Please submit presentation proposal abstracts of 200 words or less to the\u00a0<span class=\"markko15oya3o\">ASLI<\/span>\u00a0program chair. In most cases, presentations are 15 minutes, with five\u00a0minutes\u00a0<span class=\"markkrqtgr28x\">for<\/span>\u00a0questions. Longer presentation will be considered, also. Please include names of authors and their affiliations, and title of the session. Indicate the author who will be doing the presentation by listing that name with\u00a0<strong>BOLD\u00a0<\/strong>lettering.
