Often, what students fail to grasp is the importance of context to the research process. In this presentation, learn about a new model of information literacy instruction that teaches the contextual nature of research by treating research as a subject of study rather than a set of basic skills.

About the Presenter:

Allison Hosier is an Information Literacy Librarian at the University at Albany, SUNY. She has published and presented on research related to practical applications of the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy as part of information literacy instruction. Her current research is focused on introducing and exploring the metaconcept that research is both an activity and a subject of study and how the Framework’s acknowledgment of the contextual nature of research creates opportunities for introducing this metaconcept to students in the classroom. She regularly blogs about this work at www.studyingresearch.com.

Can’t make it to the live show?
