{"id":10777,"date":"2019-09-02T23:33:07","date_gmt":"2019-09-02T23:33:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hsli.org\/?p=10777"},"modified":"2019-09-02T23:33:07","modified_gmt":"2019-09-02T23:33:07","slug":"call-for-chapter-proposals-alcts-publication-telling-the-technical-services-story-deadline-oct-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hsli.org\/newsletter\/call-for-chapter-proposals-alcts-publication-telling-the-technical-services-story-deadline-oct-1\/","title":{"rendered":"Call for Chapter Proposals: ALCTS Publication Telling the Technical Services Story (Deadline Oct. 1)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>(via Kimberley Edwards, George Mason University)<\/p>\n<p><b><u><em>Telling the Technical Services Story<\/em> &#8211; Call for chapters<\/u><\/b><\/p>\n<p>ALCTS Monographs is seeking proposals from authors for a new monograph of case studies exploring methods to improve communication in technical services departments.<\/p>\n<p><b>Summary:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>In an era of increased cross-departmental collaboration and decreased budgets, it has become more and more important for technical services departments to be able to communicate their story and demonstrate their positive impact on users &#8211; whether to their administration, their colleagues in other areas of the library, or even within their own departments.\u00a0 The case studies in this monograph will highlight such projects from a range of libraries.<\/p>\n<p><b>Intended Audience: <\/b>Technical services managers, administrators, and deans in all types of libraries.<\/p>\n<p><b>Chapter length:<\/b> 4,000-5,000 words (Approx. 8-10 pages)<\/p>\n<p><b>Preliminary Table of Contents:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The monograph is expected to be separated into five sections:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Communication within technical services<\/li>\n<li>Communication with colleagues outside of the department<\/li>\n<li>Communication with library administration<\/li>\n<li>Communication with outside stakeholders<\/li>\n<li>Communication to promote yourself<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Chapter author(s), please provide:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A brief abstract of your proposed chapter (600-800 words)<\/li>\n<li>A brief biographical statement of the author(s)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Please submit proposals by October 1, 2019 to <a id=\"LPlnk604087\" title=\"mailto:alctsmonographs@lists.ala.org\" href=\"mailto:alctsmonographs@lists.ala.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\">alctsmonographs@lists.ala.org<\/a>. Notification of acceptance will occur by December 31, 2019.
