Registration Open for FY 2022 Online with the CMC Webinars

Registration is now open for the Online with the CMC (Cataloging Maintenance Center) webinars listed below. Most of the webinars occur on the third Thursday of the month from 10:00 to 11:00 AM CDT, except for the November webinar, which had to be moved up one week, so that will occur on Thursday, November 11. All Online with the CMC webinars are recorded, so if anyone is unable to attend the live session, they can always watch the recording at a later time.

“Word of Mouth: Transcribing an Oral History Collection”

March 17, 2022

This presentation will outline the technological aspects of undertaking a larger-scale oral history transcription project (256 interviews, 180+ hours), including developing guidelines, researching tools, how to transcribe an oral history, researching the content of the oral histories, the process of uploading the materials to the Illinois Digital Archives (IDA), which is a CONTENTdm-based repository, and all the challenges inherent in this type of project. “Show and Tell: Strategies for Basic Book Repair and Preventive Care”

April 21, 2022

This presentation will be two parts. Part one will be preventive measures to care for your collection and basic skills to repair items that have become damaged. Part two will be a show-and-tell between the attendees and panelists. Please bring any items you have questions on that need maintenance, repair, or housing. You will be able to share your items either via pictures or through your camera on Zoom.

By the end of the session, attendees will have a basic plan to prevent damage to their collection as well as repair items that have been damaged. All attendees will be able to share images or show items via Zoom. Presenter: Heidi Margold.
