Call for Proposals: Southeast Data Librarian Symposium 2021 (Online Oct. 13-15)–Deadline Fri., Aug. 13

(via Melissa Chomintra, Tulane University)

The Southeast Data Librarian Symposium, or SEDLS, invites proposals for virtual workshops, short talks, and poster presentations for SEDLS 2021!

  • The SEDLS 2021 conference will be held online from October 13 to 15 (Wednesday-Friday).
  • Submit your proposal here.
  • The deadline for proposals is Friday, August 13.

Check out last year’s program to view abstracts, posters, and presentation recordings for an idea of the content.

Topics of particular interest this year include the following.

  • using available tools for research data management
  • using data analysis and data visualization tools
  • data support for student research
  • addressing data literacy in the curriculum

In addition to learning about new work in the field, attendees will have the opportunity to network and build partnerships with regional colleagues. It is open to all who wish to attend, including LIS students, data managers, and data scientists. The program will consist of workshops, short presentations, and networking opportunities over a three-day period.

SEDLS 2021 will be all online. Zoom Pro for secure discussions is provided by the University of North Carolina at Greensboro University Libraries.

We understand that videoconferencing is not optimized for universal design and accessibility. Please contact the conference organizers (se.datalibrarian@gmail.com) as soon as possible if you anticipate wanting accessibility support, so that we can design an approach that fits as much of our community as possible.

Questions should be directed to the conference organizers. See the SEDLS 2021 website for continued updates and information about the symposium. Follow @SEDataLibrarian on Twitter.
