NN/LM – GMR Announces Funding Awards

The National Network of Libraries of Medicine – Greater Midwest Region has announced the winners of its funding awards for Option Year 4, which lasts from May of 2015 to April of 2016. The awards recognize various kinds of collaboration among different types of libraries, in addition to cooperation between librarians and others in academia, including faculty and researchers. Winners are recognized in one of five categories: target project, community engagement, technology improvement, exhibit and event, and professional development. Projects range from increasing access to health resources in rural areas, to customizing mobile technology for students.
Five of this year’s winners are from Illinois.

  • Gail Y. Hendler, Loyola University Chicago-“Opening Doors: Contemporary African-American Academic Surgeons”
  • Carmen Howard, University of Illinois at Chicago (Peoria campus)–“Nursing Experts: Translating the Evidence Phase 2 (NExT2)”
  • Russ Iwami, National University of Health Sciences Learning Resource Center-“Technology Bar in the Library”
  • Emily Johnson, University of Illinois at Chicago (Peoria campus)–“Rural Information Connection: A Mobile Device”
  • Miriam Lytle, Gail Borden Public Library–“Tales and Travel: Developing Community Partnerships”
